7440 7440 Assignments/Reassignments/Transfers R&P (Rules and Procedures) for 7440

Process for Teacher-Initiated Transfer Requests:

1. During the second semester of each year, HR will receive transfer requests from staff.

2. HR will compile these requests and send the Teacher Transfer Request List to all principals.

3. Principals will consider transfer requests before seeking to hire outside candidates.

4. Principals will conduct interviews in areas where there is a posted vacancy:

               ■Part of this process will be to check references, including the sending principal.

               ■The receiving principals should consult HR for questions regarding licensure.

               ■Transfers that impact special programs such as Exceptional Children, Career and Technical         

                      Education, Athletics, etc., must involve the director who works with the program.

5. Prior to June 1 of each year, principals may interview anyone on the transfer list for vacant

positions; any transfers requested by principals will be processed through HR and reported to

the Board at their regularly scheduled Board meeting in June.

6. Between June 1 – June 30, transfers must be approved by both the sending and receiving

principal; any transfers approved during this time period will be processed through HR and

reported to the Board at their regularly scheduled Board meeting in July.

7. There will be no transfers from the Teacher Transfer Request List after June 30.

General guideline: We want to support our teachers and principals while making sure that all decisions

are made in the best interests of students. Because we are all on the same team, we want to make sure

that this process considers the needs of teachers while not disrupting existing school schedules once the

beginning of the year approaches.
