6150-7267 Automated External Defibrillators (AEDS)

 

In order to provide opportunities for assistance to be given to individuals experiencing cardiac arrest on school property, the board has acquired automatic external defibrillators (AEDs) for use in designated schools and buildings and at designated athletic events. The board encourages use of these AEDs by trained personnel in appropriate situations. AEDs shall be located in secured locations that are accessible to trained personnel.

Procedures related to this policy must be reviewed post-incident and annually in furtherance of this policy and in accordance with applicable state and local statutes and regulations.

Nothing in this policy shall be construed as to require the presence of an AED or use of an AED by a member or employee of the board, not otherwise existing by law. The board expressly reserves all immunities from civil liability which are available to it.
